Question? Get the right answer on Zapytaj, usually in your top search results. It's a Polish social network enabling users to share knowledge by asking and answering questions.
Zapytaj is available on desktop, mobile, and Android.
Zapytaj is part of Onet.pl S.A. - one of the most recognizable media companies in Poland and the owner of: Onet.pl, zumi.pl, VOD.pl, Plejada.pl, Sympatia, Skapiec.pl, NK.pl, and many other popular services.
The most popular apps are the ones giving users only few features. That's the way we wanted Zapytaj app to be. It was a simple concept, pixel perfect and material design, pure joy of getting answers fast, with no ads attached.
While listening to our users, we found out that what they really miss and need in Zapytaj app is user profile. That's where I stepped in.
At the beginning, when it comes to user profile, Zapytaj app enabled users to add a profile picture. That's not much. In contrast to Zapytaj web version, where users could collect badges, compare total scores, level, best answers, and more. The basic logic of Zapytaj's gamification was based on reward and recognition. Users were rewarded with points and badges. In other words, they were able to compete with each other.
First step to designing more exciting app user experience was deciding, which features we are able to reconstruct in Android environment. Additionally, Zapytaj app's original concept excluded any extensions of the user profile. That is why I had to rebuilt side navigation.
Zapytaj app project was one of those where - as a user experience designer - I had to design user interface as well. That is why I started with paper (and scissors!) prototypes, went on to simple wireframes, and finished the process with a hi-fi Axure mockup.
It's worth to mention that using material design guidelines made my work a lot easier. Although it had a few limitations. For example, one of the most difficult desicions to make was choosing 4 scrollable tabs over 3.
